This motor yacht in Dubai has two parallel-hybrid drive systems installed. The system consists of 2 x 20 kW parallel drive motors, 2 x Fischer Panda AGT 13000 battery charging generators and 2 x 48 V battery banks.
The parallel hybrid is ideal for cruising and manoeuvres (especially at particularly low speeds) where a conventional drive system already exists. The drive motor is mounted parallel to the existing drive shaft. It only requires very small changes at the drive train.
The system control is the EasyBox which is equipped with the most modern electronics. This enables the skipper to just start the motor and go. The EasyBox comprises motor controller, a DC-DC converter (48 V to 24 V), all fuses and connections. The EasyBox is connected with the throttle and the display via plug connections. Both battery bank and power supply for the electric motors are connected via screw connections at the bottom of the unit. The installation effort is reduced to a minimum.
The battery bank can be recharged by simply pressing a “RE-GEN” (regeneration) button when the main engine is running. This system is ideal for ships with a traditional combustion engine/gear.
A special challenge that the installation team had to overcome - ambient temperatures exceeeding 50°C in the engine room.
